Weekly Analysis 1

Born August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana, his father was a steelworker and his mother a housewife. His career began in 1968 when he was only six years old in a musical group with his brothers. His solo career began in 1971 and then, in 1972 had his first solo single which reached No. 1. That was just the beginning of numerous hits that followed. His 1982 album, “Thriller,” sold over 60 million copies worldwide and still remains the top selling album of all times. He was name “The King of Pop (Fox News, 2009).”

I’m sure by now you know that I’m talking about Michael Jackson. The day he passed away, Thursday, June 25, 2009, won’t be forgotten soon. Having grown up during the “Off the Wall,” “Thriller,” and “Bad” era, I was really sadden to hear of his death. Michael was an extremely talented musician and artist whose music will not be forgotten. His fame will continue on for decades to come.

Remembering back to my childhood, the Jaycees’ would hold dances on Friday nights for the youth in the community. We all thought that was such a great thing. There was a DJ, strobe lights, and the loud music played all evening. Sometimes we would dance and sometimes we would just sit around talking. However, when a Michael Jackson song started to play, the dance floor would get filled with people. That was just awesome!!

There is controversy around his death. Did it have to do with the painkillers or was it just his time to go? Ever after the autopsies, we may never know for sure what caused him to go into full cardiac arrest. I just hope he rests in peace.
